some tips for helping your student succeed in school. - Accommodations- make sure that your child is aware of their accommodations and what helps
them in school.
- Bring your child to their IEP meeting-this is extremely important, as they are the one that will have
to "live" the plan.
- Attendance is vital to the education of your child, please help to make sure your student
is in school.
- Encourage your child to ask questions at school and clarify assignments if they don't understand.
Tips for helping your child at home:
- Provide a study time and area
where your child feels comfortable
- Praise your child for the things they do well
- Talk with your child about
their day
- Model and teach them how to make "to do" lists and prioritize their homework
- Read to your
child and provide reading material
- Talk about current events with your child
- Provide a computer for written
assignments if the child has difficulty writing- public libraries have computers for public use
